Vanua Levu, Fiji's second largest island, is of volcanic origin and surrounded by extensive coral reef systems - the third longest barrier reef in the world is just off its northern coast. The small township of Savusavu, where a number of fine resorts can be found, is also known for its hot springs and thermal activity.

Taveuni, the Garden Island of Fiji, is where you'll find hidden waterfalls to swim beneath, incredible wildlife and the most lush green scenery to be found in Fiji.

In September 2008, a previously unknown species of Iguana was discovered on a remote northern island, and named 'Brachylophus Bulabula' ('Bulabula' being a enthusiastic doubling of 'Bula', the Fijian word for 'hello' or 'life').
